Alonstein :: Ornstein The Dragon Slayer and the Executioner of Smoke

Ornstein's past is anyone's guess. Judging by his nickname, Ornstein distinguished himself greatly during the war with the dragons. Belonging to the Four speaks to his excellent fighting skills, besides Ornstein is the captain of the Four Knights. Ornstein owns a lion ring and a unique Dragon Slayer spear that deals lightning damage. It is unknown if this is an ability of the spear itself or its owner. Smoke is an executioner in giant heavy armor with a huge hammer. He wanted to become one of the Four Knights of Gwyn, but because he added the bones of his victims to his food, he was not accepted. Despite this, he stayed with Ornstein to guard the illusion of the princess. It is likely that Smoke harbors a grudge that he never became a knight of Gwyn — he immediately brings down the hammer on the defeated Ornstein (if he is killed first), although in the video you can see that Ornstein's fingers are moving, and he is alive. Most likely, it was Ornstein's illusion, so he took his power without mercy. Although it is possible that he is willing to sacrifice a comrade to protect the princess.

These bosses are located in Anor Londo Castle. You can only get to them through the main entrance, guarded by Royal Guards, you can just run through these knights.

The main feature is that the player has to fight both at once. Ornstein and Smoke will constantly attack the player together, trying to kill him. The swift and dexterous Ornstein quickly closes the distance between the hero and delivers sharp and powerful spear strikes and shoots lightning. Smoke is clumsy, huge, but incredibly strong, his attacks are slow, but they very quickly destroy the hero's stamina, opening him up to a comrade's blow.

Both opponents will not let you relax throughout the battle, which makes them one of the most interesting and challenging bosses in the entire game, so much loved by all players.

When one of them is finished, the other will take away the forces of the defeated colleague, restore his health. By the end of the fight, the player will be confronted by either Electro-Smog or Super-Ornstein. For the former adds lightning damage to his hammer blows, while the latter grows to gigantic proportions and begins to make more sweeping, forceful strikes.

Since after the death of one of the bosses, the other fully restores its health and becomes an order of magnitude more dangerous, it is recommended to focus on attacking one person. Whoever is killed last will give the player his armor and soul, from which you can then forge the weapon of the defeated boss.

There are two main general tactics for fighting this boss in hand-to-hand combat:

Constantly moving in a circle with a raised shield and target capture enabled and waiting for the moment when one of the two enemies opens for a retaliatory attack. This tactic is well suited for beginners. However, care must be taken. It is best to be treated standing behind a pillar. You absolutely must not drive yourself into a corner, which means certain death. It is also worth hiding from attacks behind columns at some distance from them, as bosses can destroy them.
Active use of rollovers and sprints in order to break away from Ornstein's attacks and switch to Smoke. Smoke's attacks can also be avoided by rolling over. It's even easier because of the enemy's slowness. In this case, Smoke will most likely die first. This tactic is suitable only for experienced players who have had time to study attacks and their intervals well, as well as the terrain of the battle arena.
