Thranduil

Thranduil is an elf from the Sindar, the son of Oropher, the father of Legolas. The king of the forest elves of Mirkwood (Greenwood) after the death of Orofer's father in the War of the Last Alliance.

At the beginning of the Second Age, Thranduil, with his father and a handful of other Sindar from Nogrod and the sons of Feanor Doriath, destroyed by the war with the Dwarves, marched to the east of Middle-earth beyond the Misty Mountains. There, in the Great Greenwood, they founded the kingdom of the forest elves, quickly mixing with them.

Orofer and Thranduil did not want to have anything to do with the dwarves of Moria, whom they blamed for the ruin of Doriath and the murder of Thingol. They also wanted nothing to do with the Noldor, as well as those Sindar who were ruled by the Noldor exiles.
However, when Sauron returned to Mordor after the Fall of Numenor and began to regain his strength, Thranduil's father decided in the name of peace to support the initiative of the High King of the Noldor Gil-galad and attack Sauron.

So, under the command of Orofer and Thranduil, a huge army of forest elves joined forces with the army of Amdir, King of Lorien, and took part in the War of the Last Alliance.
