Sandor Clegane

Sandor Clegane, nicknamed the Dog— is the younger brother of Grigor Clegane, Joffrey Baratheon's bodyguard. The nickname "The Dog" is associated not only with the coat of arms of his house, depicting three dogs, but also with his ferocious nature and unquestioning obedience to the owners; Sandor Clegane accepts this nickname even with some pride and wears the famous helmet in the form of a dog's head. The dog is rightly considered one of the best swordsmen in Westeros.

The dog has a terrible burn on the left side of his face — as a child he was disfigured by his own brother Grigor Clegane. The dog is afraid of fire, hates the brother knight and knights in general. He himself has not accepted knighthood and does not bear the title "sir".
