The Uruk-hai are one of the races of Middle—earth that appeared at the end of the Third Age of Middle-earth.
"Uruk-hai" is translated from the black dialect as "orc tribe" or "orc people". The Uruk-hai formed the elite of Saruman and Sauron's army, along with the Snaga (small orcs), Dunlanders, and representatives of other enemies of the Free Nations. Uruk-hai were huge, compared to other orcs, and reached human height. They were also faster, stronger, and could travel long distances in the sunlight without being weakened.
