Palpatine

Palpatine, also known as Darth Sidious, was the last Supreme Chancellor of the Republic and the first Emperor of the Galactic Empire, who possessed great power: neither Mace Windu, Yoda, nor other Jedi could kill him. He was a dark lord of the Sith who adhered to the Rule of Two, the rule of the Order of the Sith Lords, and was the most powerful lord the Galaxy had ever known. He also had a keen intellect and was able to foresee various futures: in fact, it was he who turned the Old Republic into an Empire and destroyed almost all the Jedi. It took Palpatine decades of hard work to do all of this.

The Sith began his journey to absolute power by becoming a senator. Then, using his manipulative abilities, cunning and the power of the dark side of the Force, he became supreme Chancellor and stayed in this position for thirteen years, gradually increasing his power and turning the democratic regime of the Republic into a dictatorship. All these years and after, Palpatine constantly staged various intrigues, such as cloning the Jedi Jorus C'baoth and building a factory to produce his own clones on Bissa; killing and intimidating unwanted political opponents; the outbreak of various military and political conflicts; the constant amendment of the constitution, giving him new powers, and so on.
