Ankh



As a sign of inexhaustible vitality, the ankh sign was applied to the walls of temples, monuments and surrounding objects; it can often be seen on friezes, utensils and even around the base.

Ankh points to the divine and eternal life, so often in ancient Egyptian images the gods bring ankh to the nose of the pharaohs (like the breath of life). Ankh was placed in the tomb of the pharaohs so that after death their souls could continue to live in the Duat.
