Aegon I Targaryen

Aegon I Targaryen, also known as Aegon the Conqueror or Aegon the Dragon Ruler, was the first king of the Targaryen dynasty. The son of Aerion Targaryen and Valeina Velarion, he was married twice to his sisters Visenya and Rhaenys, and became the father of Aenys and Maegor, who were kings after his death.

With the help of three dragons, Aegon conquered and united six of the seven kingdoms of Westeros. He built the city of King's Landing and ordered the Iron Throne to be forged from the swords of his defeated enemies. The reckoning of years in Westeros has been going on since the reign of Aegon. Many representatives of House Targaryen, including Egg and Aegon, son of Rhaegar, were named after him.
