Berik Dondarrion

Lord Beric Dondarrion is a young lord from the Dornish Marches, the head of the House of Dondarrion. In Game of Thrones, Eddard Stark assigned him and several other knights to bring justice to Grigor Clegane. During the War of the Five Kings, Lord Beric created and led a guerrilla group, the Brotherhood without Banners, designed to protect the common people. The head of the Brotherhood became famous for his elusiveness and supernatural ability to rise from the dead — his death was announced several times, but Berik continued his activities each time.

Beric Dondarrion is betrothed to Alliria Dane, and Beric's squire is her nephew, Edric. Berik is about twenty-two years old. During the tournament of the Hand, Berik was very good-looking and attracted the attention of women. His nickname "Lord lightning" simultaneously recalls the coat of arms of the Dondarrions - the purple lightning — and the tactics of lightning strikes practiced by Berik.
