Genji Shimada

Cyborg Genji Shimada has come to terms with his mechanical body, which previously caused him only disgust, thereby discovering a new and better side of his character.

As the youngest son of the head of the Shimada ninja clan, Genji lived in luxury and was accustomed to a privileged position. He showed no interest in the criminal aspects of the clan's activities. Although he enjoyed learning ninja skills, which he excelled at, Genji preferred to spend his life pretending to be a young playboy. Many members of the clan believed that his carefree lifestyle did not bode well and could turn into trouble, and therefore they were outraged by the excessive attention and care that Genji's father showed towards his son. After the sudden death of the head of the clan, Genji Hanzo's older brother demanded that he take a greater part in the fate of their father's criminal empire. Genji refused, incurring Hanzo's wrath. Passions reached such a fever pitch that the brothers rushed at each other with weapons. This duel almost cost Genji his life.

Hanzo thought he had killed his brother, but thanks to the actions of Overwatch and the intervention of Dr. Angela Ziegler, Genji was saved. The World Security Service saw Genji as a potential ally in the fight against the Shimada clan. He was dying from his wounds, but the Overwatch organization offered him salvation in exchange for his service. Many of Genji's organs had to be replaced with cybernetic implants. This made Genji even faster and improved his ninja skills. Transformed into a living weapon, Genji threw all his strength into destroying the criminal empire that belonged to his family.

But over time, cyborg began to be plagued by internal contradictions. Mechanical implants disgusted him, and he could not accept what he had become. After completing his assignment, he left Overwatch and traveled the world, hoping to understand the meaning of his existence. He wandered for many years until he finally met a robot monk named Zenyatta. At first, Genji rejected Zenyatta's wisdom, but the robot continued to instruct him. Over time, Zenyatta became a real Genji teacher. Listening to the wise words of the monk, Genji came to terms with his dual position as a machine man. He realized that a human soul continued to live in his cyborg body, and realized that his new form was a gift from fate, making him stronger.

For the first time in his life, Genji found freedom. Even he himself does not know where his path may lead.
