Kratos

Kratos, also known as the Ghost of Sparta and the Godslayer, is the main protagonist and antihero of the God of War series of games. Born in Sparta, he earned the rank of General before he began to take revenge on the gods.

Throughout the series, Kratos' character is positioned as an antihero, often committing immoral acts to advance his goal, such as sacrificing innocent people. Prior to the events described in the games of the series, Kratos was the commander of the Spartan army, interested only in increasing his own power by conquering his enemies. His character changes when he becomes Ares' servant, after which he faithfully served him for many years. After he stopped serving Ares, Kratos continued to serve the gods in order to obtain forgiveness, nevertheless showing them outright disgust. By receiving assignments from the gods of Olympus, Kratos shows his disrespect for them by following their orders to his advantage. In the first game of the series, his main motive is revenge on Ares. The gods turn to him with the task of killing him, and Kratos accepts the task to avenge Ares for his family.
