Kroot

The Kruuts (known in the Imperium as the Predator Kruuts or the Krutis Aviana) are a humanoid race of xenos. They are found throughout the galaxy, but most of their representatives are part of the Tau Empire.

The capital and homeworld of the Kruut is the planet of Pech. It is here that they return during their peculiar pilgrimages or migrations. During the Second Sphere of Expansion, Pech was incorporated into the Tau Empire after the Tau helped the Kruut recapture their worlds from the Orcs. Later, all the Kruut immediately swore an oath of allegiance. Among the diverse alien species serving the Empire, the Kruut auxiliaries are the most common. Billions of armed savages, along with the warriors of the caste of Fire, form the personnel of the military forces in almost every sept of the empire.

On the battlefield, Kruut enjoy complete freedom of action. Unnoticed by the enemy, they penetrate to the flanks and wait, hiding among trees or dense bushes. Once in hiding, they slowly aim their long guns and wait for the right moment to ambush. When the enemy becomes most vulnerable, he is suddenly attacked by a barrage of fire. Despite all their savagery, the Kruuts identify key targets with amazing accuracy among the total mass of enemy troops. As a rule, their victims are enemy snipers, heavy gun operators, and communications officers. After the enemy's numbers decrease, the Kruut themselves pounce on the discouraged enemy from hiding, covering the distance separating them from the enemy in their own special manner.
