Luke Skywalker

Luke Skywalker is a force—sensitive man, a male Jedi master who played a key role in the defeat of the Galactic Empire and the overthrow of the Sith during the Galactic Civil War. He was the son of fallen Jedi Knight Anakin Skywalker and Senator Padme Amidala, the grandson of Shmi Skywalker Lars, the nephew of Owen and Beru Lars, and the twin brother of Leia Organa. Born 19 BBY on the asteroid Polis-Massa, the twins almost immediately became orphans, as their mother died in childbirth, and their father, who fell to the dark side of the Force and took the name of the Sith Lord Darth Vader, never found out about their birth. Luke and Leia were separated and the boy was taken by Jedi Master Obi-Wan Kenobi, who took him to the planet Tatooine, where he gave the baby to the Lars family to raise in order to hide him from the Galactic Empire.

Luke grew up on Tatooine unaware of his origins, but his life changed completely after his uncle acquired two droids, R2-D2 and C-3PO, carrying blueprints for the Empire's superweapon, the Death Star. After his family was killed by Imperial soldiers searching for the blueprints, Skywalker, who lost everything he had, set off on a dangerous journey with Kenobi to deliver the blueprints to the Rebel Alliance, learning the ways of the Force from an old Jedi along the way and meeting Han Solo and, unknowingly, his sister, the princess. Leia Organa, a member of the Uprising. After Kenobi was killed by Vader, Skywalker took part in the Battle of Yavin with the rebels and, guided by Kenobi's spirit, was able to destroy the Death Star.
