An evil force unlike anything else is lurking and watching. They are impatient, but they always wait for an opportunity. They weave intrigues that cover the whole world with insidious designs. They're everywhere, but they're always invisible. Not a single kingdom from the Edge of the World Mountains to the jungles of the Southern Lands, from the arid dunes to the wild North remained untouched. Centuries ago, this loathsome race crushed the ancient strongholds of the dwarves, leaving only a shadow of the proud race's former greatness. In the past, they desecrated the temple cities of the cold-blooded creatures of Lustria and brought the greatest state of the people of the Old World, the Empire, to universal famine and almost complete destruction. And they're planning to do even worse...
alliances are breaking on the surface of the world, epidemics are breaking out, and wars are starting–all run by mysterious and elusive creatures lurking literally under the feet of those they seek to destroy. These creatures are Skaven, and they won't settle for anything less than complete control over the world.
