Empire of Tau (Warhammer)

The Tau are a young, technologically oriented race of humanoids from the Eastern Fringe, who are the dominant species in the Tau Empire. Their home planet, T'au, was discovered by the Adeptus Mechanicus Exploratory Fleet in 789.M35. The records of the ship "Vision of Land" indicate that at this time the Tau had just mastered fire and began using the simplest tools and weapons. The Imperium was about to cleanse and colonize this planet, but a terrible warp storm broke out, surrounding it. It lasted for almost six thousand years, as a result of which the native planet of Tau was inaccessible to humans.

It was not until the Damocles Crusade that the Imperium met the Tau again. It turned out that primitive Tau had made incredible progress in six thousand years and had learned how to create pulse weapons and spaceships.
