After the murder of Mr. Hyde, he meets with the cardinal in Paris and is assigned to go to Wallachia to help Princess Anna Valerius and her brother kill Dracula. Van Helsing, accompanied by the novice Karl, arrives in Transylvania and meets Princess Anna. Soon, he manages to destroy Dracula in the final battle in the Ice Fortress, but he loses Anna alive, whom he has come to love.
