It is believed that in a previous life, the Fateful Widow was the wife of Gerard Lacroix, an agent of the Overwatch organization who planned operations aimed at suppressing the activities of the terrorist organization Talon. After several failed attempts to remove Gerard, Talon decided to change tactics and focused on his wife, Amelie. Talon agents abducted her and subjected her to an intensive course of neural modification. The procedures broke her will and suppressed her personality; the woman turned into a "sleeping" agent. After some time, the Overwatch staff rescued Amelie, seemingly safe and sound, and she returned to normal life.

Two weeks later, she killed Gerard while he was sleeping.

Since Amelie's mission was completed, she returned to the Talon, where the process of her transformation into a living weapon was completed. She received comprehensive training in the art of disguise, and her physiology was changed. The heart rate slowed down so much that the skin of the former Madame Lacroix became cold and pale, and the ability to experience emotions almost disappeared. Amelie, whom everyone remembered, died.
